(He/His)
Samuel joined TUWU because he grew up in a working-class family and at an early age he was instilled with a deep appreciation for the value of manual labor, as well as a deep understanding of the ways in which employers systematically exploit and abuse workers. With nearly a decade of organizing experience, his organizing work has focused on developing the leadership and class consciousness of working leaders in the hospitality and food service sectors.
Samuel’s inspiration for TUWU is to continue building a team of organizers focused on empowering grassroots leaders to fight the boss and grow a base of militant workers across the Bay Area through direct on-the-ground actions of work. Samuel believes that for real change and organizing to successfully happen in the workplace, it is important that people have space for a critical class consciousness.
